What You Will Be Doing
As our Payroll Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing. You will work closely with HR, Finance, and Operations to support employees, maintain compliance with legislation, and contribute to the continuous improvement of payroll processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll weekly for approximately 300 employees.
- Interpret and apply relevant Modern Awards (Banking, Finance & Insurance, Legal Services, and General Retail).
- Ensure compliance with Fair Work legislation and industry-specific award requirements.
- Maintain accurate payroll records including leave accruals, superannuation, and taxation obligations.
- Respond to employee payroll queries in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist in preparing and reconciling payroll reports (STP, PAYG, Superannuation, and entitlements).
- Support internal audits, compliance checks, and system/process improvements.
- Work collaboratively with HR and Finance to ensure seamless payroll governance.
Skills & Qualifications
- 1–2+ years’ experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
- Knowledge of modern awards and Fair Work award interpretation.
- Exposure to government entitlements, taxation applications, and bonus systems desirable.
- Experience using payroll software (FoundU advantageous).
- High attention to detail with strong time management and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with stakeholders.
- A proactive and adaptable approach with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
